There is a rumor flying around that they will also suspend support for most of their other e-readers that are more than a few years ago. The 1st generation Nook was recently discontinued and is no longer supported. In December 2014, B&N purchased Microsoft's Nook shares, ending the partnership.
NOOK BARNES AND NOBLE ANDROID
The Barnes & Noble Nook (styled nook or NOOK) is a brand of e-readers developed by American book retailer Barnes & Noble, based on the Android platform.
NOOK BARNES AND NOBLE DOWNLOAD
You must register your NOOK to a Barnes & Noble account so that you can purchase and download NOOK Books, magazines, newspapers, and apps from the NOOK Store™ and read them on your NOOK. Subsequently, question is, can you still get books for Nook? Yes. Users will still have access to their purchased content and are able to continue sideloading ebooks.

Customers are now unable to purchase new content, register with a BN.com account, or sign in using a NOOK account.

The Barnes and Noble Nook first generation e-reader is officially discontinued today. In 2001, the Company purchased, a leading study aids website, and in 2003, Sterling Publishing, which had been operating for more than half a century. Similarly, you may ask, does Barnes and Noble still make the Nook? Barnes & Noble became a publicly traded company in 1993, and continued to grow throughout the 1990s, adding an e-commerce website, BN.com in May 1997, and publishing capabilities. Barnes and Noble currently has two e-readers they are selling, the Nook Glowlight 3 and the Nook Glowlight Plus, which is a 7.8 inch e-reader. The new CEO of Barnes and Noble, James Daunt, has stated that the bookseller will continue to support the Nook e-Reader.
